Tourism Industry

More than four billion people live in relative close proximity to the Ho Tram Strip – or about two-thirds of the World’s population. The Greater Mekong Sub-region boasts about 325 million people, and more than 165 million people live within a three-hour flight of Ho Chi Minh City, originating from countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, and Laos. Viet Nam is also a popular tourist destination for visitors from the US, Australia and European countries.

Viet Nam's tourism industry is expanding rapidly, and ACDL has an excellent opportunity to gain a significant share of tourism expenditures from Viet Nam’s existing 4.3 million yearly visitors – including a share of increased visitor growth.  According to Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), with visitor arrivals to Viet Nam reaching approximately 4.3 million in 2008, the country has experienced an overall growth from 2003 to 2008 of 75%, with an estimate that more than 60% of the country’s international visitors come to Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City’s international airport receives direct flights from 28 cities originating from 16 countries - including 13 cities in the target markets of China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. The airport receives more than 325 international flights per week, providing direct access to Viet Nam for an estimated 641 million people including airline access for 165 million people whose travel time is less than 3 hours. This represents a large potential customer base for the Ho Tram Strip that is largely untapped, as 70% of international visitors to Viet Nam arrive by air and approximately 60% of these are tourists.

With the close proximity of existing and popular Vung Tau tourist destinations, ACDL has a very strong potential to attract visitors from this market.  The previously unseen quality of the Ho Tram Strip offering will attract many of these tourists to visit the property, while the numerous other luxury resorts operating and under construction in Vung Tau will also draw tourists to the area, ultimately having a positive impact on Ho Tram Strip as well.
