As Chairman and CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC) from 1998-2003, Ron Barbaro spearheaded the creation of one of world's largest gaming entities. Under his stewardship, the OLGC grew from a mid-sized lottery company, to a multi-faceted corporation generating more than US$2B in net profits a year. Mr. Barbaro has been widely credited with preparing the OLGC for the new millennium, expanding operations to include high-profile casinos in Niagara Falls, Windsor, and Rama, Ontario, a wildly successful sports betting program, and increased numbers of instant and weekly lotteries. Mr. Barbaro is currently Chairman of both The Brick Income Group and Trans-Global Insurance. He was recently a special advisor to the Premier of Ontario and Chairman of the Premier's Economic Recovery Team, and has also maintained directorships on the boards of The Thomson Corporation and Flow International. Widely respected for his business knowledge and acumen, Mr. Barbaro has authored numerous articles and has been featured in several books. He has also been profiled and quoted in respected business magazines such as Fortune and Forbes, while also appearing on The ABC Evening News, NBC's Today Show and CNN. |
